Artifact #1: Community Involvement

This artifact demonstrates standard ten, leadership and collaboration, by incorporating teamwork with Hollins University and Roanoke City Public Schools. This project is called Books and Breakfast. Volunteering with this program involves teachers in a students life outside of school, while still promoting learning through handing out free books. Hollins University and Roanoke City Public Schools team up to put on a free breakfast and the kids/parents get a free book of their choice to take home with them. This is a great way to collaborate with the surrounding community and promote the education profession.

Artifact #2: Parent/Guardian Letter

This artifact demonstrates the importance of communicating with parents/guardians about changes inside the classroom. As a new face in the classroom, parents/guardians should feel comfortable and confident that their student is being protected and cared for, and by communicating with them about who i am, allows for reassurance. Before this letter was sent home, I had to collaborate with both the supervising teacher and the principal to ensure I was taking every step needed to communicate properly with parents/guardians. Parents/guardians and educators must have an open line of communication to establish positive advancements within their students education.
